The origins of our Masonic Discipline are based on events that occurred during the building of King Solomons Temple approximately 3000 years ago. The builders and promoters of that magnificent structure no doubt knew its importance as the replacement for the Tabernacle erected by Moses in the wilderness as the dwelling place of God. It is tragic and remorseful that detractors throughout history thought it necessary and inconsequential to destroy that Holy edifice not only once but again after its rebuilding nearly a thousand years later, rending them lost for eternity.
The ritual to which we are introduced in the rites and ceremonies of Freemasonry is just as vulnerable to extinction if it not preserved and promoted. To the unknowing it is probably as inconsequential as the razing of the Ancient Temples, to let our ritual fall into a state that is not recognizable to a true Masonic ritualist. But for many of us spend countless hours engaged its promotion it is not time spent unwisely. It is important that our ritual continue in its present form and be handed down to generations behind us that they too, may understand and appreciate its meaning.
Every Thursday evening, the Northland Study Club meets for the purpose of sharing the Missouri Masonic Ritual to Brothers interested in learning and preserving it. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting. Participants are encouraged to try new chairs and become proficient in as many positions and he cares to. There is also coaching for Brothers who want to learn the Candidates Proficiencies.
If you are a regular, we appreciate your support, if you are just thinking about joining us, you will be warmly welcomed. Someone usually opens the building about 6:30 P.M. and after some fellowship over coffee, we get underway at 7:00 and continue until about 9:00 P.M. The lessons each evening vary according to what degree work or lodge events are coming up in the near future.
I encourage you to join us.
